Who will win the battle?

The heat is on, well on the track anyway, for the upcoming final round of the Kent Cams/Simpson Race Exhausts 2017 British Autograss Series. Border Counties played host less than two weeks ago to an excellent Round Four of the Series where they managed the wet conditions expertly to present an impressive track which would still provide close and competative racing. On top of this, they efficiently ran the meeting with pace and fluidity to have the event wrapped up by mid-afternoon on Sunday. A job well done and an example to others for sure. It was also a job well done for 4 drivers who secured their Class Championship at Round Four; Ellie Bailey (SC174) and Sam Gould (NS334) retain their Titles from last year in Ladies Class One and Mens Class Three respectively, and Nicola Olsson (CM47) and John Whitehouse (SC4) are now you’re Ladies Class Six and Mens Class Nine British Champions. Well done to those drivers.

With a 2017 Series running from strength to strength then where better to head for the Final Showdown than Yorkshire Dales. Like South Wales and Stroud before them, the Yorkshire Dales Club are experienced hosts of numerous BAS Rounds and hugely successful National Championships. We have no doubt that they will deliver, with their excellent venue, fast track, and big team of members and outside helpers that know exactly what needs doing and how to do it.

Likewise, there’s no fear that the drivers won’t deliver. Only four titles are decided and lets not forget it’s not all about first place; the calibre of driver and level of competition means that any trophy position is an achievement and is all to play for in every class. To say that the Championship will go down to the wire is an undertstatement, taking Class Seven for example where there’s possibly six drivers able to take the crown. We’re excited for what’s in store, are you?
